Unifor Local 1285 members at F&P Manufacturing, an independent auto parts supplier in Tottenham, Ontario, have successfully ratified their first collective agreement with 94% voting in favour.

"The auto parts industry is vitally important to Ontario’s economy and auto parts workers continue to see the benefits of unionization every single day,” said Unifor National President Lana Payne. "Ratifying this first contract is an important milestone for Unifor Local 1285 members at F&P that delivers economic improvements for today and ensures better working conditions for years to come."

F&P Manufacturing is a tier-one auto parts supplier for Honda’s Alliston plant and supplies parts to automakers such as Tesla, GM, and Stellantis. The facility includes an on-site stamping operation, underscoring its critical place in the automotive supply chain.

Members’ wages will increase by 16% over the life of the three-year agreement, with an increase of 11% in year one, 3% in the year two, and 2% in year three. The agreement also ensures that 170 temporary workers will convert to full-time status over the first 12 months of the contract. Workers will move to the top rate more quickly with the wage progression being reduced by 500 hours (from 4,500 to 4,000 hours including overtime).

Benefits were also significantly enhanced, including an increase to paramedical service coverage from $300 to $400, physiotherapy coverage from $1,000 to $1,200, dental service coverage from $1,500 to $1,750, orthodontic coverage from $2,000 to $2,250, and eyeglass/contact coverage from $250 to $300. The agreement will also introduce a full time Plant Chairperson position as well as Unifor’s Racial Justice and Women’s Advocate programs to the plant.

After F&P workers joined Unifor in April, 2024, negotiations between the union and the company opened in September 2024 and concluded in December 2024.

"I am so proud and honoured that our local earned the trust and confidence of F&P members to support, represent, and bargain their first collective agreement," said Unifor Local 1285 President Vito Beato. "Both the bargaining committee and membership expressed that the road from the organizing campaign to the bargaining table was a long one, but well worth the effort. This agreement will change lives of our members, and we could not have made it this far without the effort of everyone along the way from the moment the first union card was signed to the final ballot being cast by our members.”

The newly ratified contract expires in December 2027.
